Evoking epiphany . The balance of nature and the importance of wildlife is a topic rarely discussed in public. As part of a cultural programme held during the Durga Puja celebrations, a play on the topic was staged at DRDO Township recently.

The balance of nature and the importance of wildlife is a topic rarely discussed in public. As part of a cultural programme held during the Durga Puja celebrations, a play on the topic was staged at DRDO Township recently. The play titled "Dublar Chawrey Dokkhin Ray" had its focus on the Sundarbans, and talked about protecting the balance in nature, including both wildlife and the locals of the area.

A scene from the play 'Dublar Chawrey Dokkhin Ray' Around 250 audiences from different communities witnessed the play, which was written and directed by Anindya Biswas. The play dealt with the concept that, while the Sundarbans used to be called the land of eighteen tides, human settlement started overtaking the forest. With this started the mass killings of the Royal Bengal Tigers. Times are changing, however, as locals are slowly realising that saving the tiger means to save the forest. The drama was performed in Bengali with a mix of local and city dialects. The 3D-effect of the dense forests of Sundarbans mesmerised the audience.
