Honouring the courageous . Swathi Lakra was recently bestowed with “Dhairya” award by Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini (ABV) to honour and celebrate the SHE strength in the twin cities.
The “Dhairya” award, which celebrates courageous women and their achievements, was conferred on IPS officer Swathi Lakra recently, for establishing the SHE Teams that ensure safety of women in twin cities
Swathi Lakra was recently bestowed with “Dhairya” award by Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini (ABV) to honour and celebrate the SHE strength in the twin cities. ABV, known to choose people, who’ve contributed to the society’s well-being, this time they gave away the award to Swathi Lakra - truly a befitting honour to the Assistant Commissioner of Hyderabad Police.
The award presentation included a scintillating idol of Godess Durga followed by Sanmana Patram, which lauded Swathi’s efforts to protect the vulnerable. After this, addressing the audience, Swathi Lakra said, “It is out of sheer tenacity and strength of humanity that the SHE team is forging forward with great enthusiasm.”
Talking about the inception of the SHE teams, she further said, “Initially my teams were worried that there wasn’t much response from women, which is when I said that sensitising yourself towards their issues will draw them towards you. Now I can proudly say they have earned the trust of women folk here, the ones who no longer feel insecure.”
She urged people to come forward and report any kind of abuse, download the Hawk app, be vigilant, not only about themselves but towards vulnerable ones around them.
