Gurram Sindhu Priya, a girl who hails from the city has gone to places when her work in designing and styling for Superstar Rajnikanth, for his film Linga, had received a positive responses. She took up fashion designing as her career after completing Engineering and is a successful stylist in the Kollywood industry predominantly. She is now looking forward to set up an institute under her brand Srivens in the city, to encourage enthusiastic candidates to pursue fashion and styling as a career under diploma and post graduation courses.
Sindhu Priya who took her master’s degree in fashion designing from Chennai in the year 2013, has moved on to work as a visualiser of showrooms that are of popular brands like Veromoda and a few more. Later, she got the opportunity to work as a costume assistant for Dhanush starrer Anegan and Suriya starrer Singham flicks. No sooner, she was identified for her work and was roped in by chief designer of the film Linga to assist Rajni kanth in styling the costume.
‘’It was more than what I ever imagined, to be blessed and appreciated by the superstar himself. My family is elated at his words for me as hardworking and enthusiastic. Since then, I decided to pursue interests in other industries. I worked for a Marathi film and on advertisements starring Mahesh Babu, Raviteja, Sonakshi Sinha apart others’’.
Fashion, is what that makes a person comfortable to wear. Nevertheless, put what costume u like, to carry it off is the key. Basically, designing depends on the skin color and silhouette of the person. Wearing layers wouldn’t make anybody look stylish but minimizing looks with new patterns and different colors would do the trick, she says.
To test the waters, Sindhu also organized a fashion show named under her brand, where the whole theme settled along traditional wear. About 25 boys and girls from the city who are aspiring to become models and hit the glamour industry, have taken part in the event. Upcoming actor Akkineni Akhil was present at the event.
‘’Traditional fashion is what I chose because we have a rich culture and heritage that could be depicted in our clothes. Since Amaravathi name is associated with the grandeur of our past, I thought it would be right to come up with a traditional show where the models display my work on lehengas, saris and Indian version of floor length dresses’’, said Sindhu.
Sindhu says that it wasn’t easy to organize the show so big with uncontrollable crowd. Amidst anticipations, it was tough to handle single handedly all the requirements for the show which was planned only 20 days prior to the event. I got the materials and designs prepared at Mumbai and brought them to Hyderabad for putting together. I was keen on colors and styling of the fabric. However, at the end all paid off, she smiled.
