The ‘Keep India Smiling’ campaign by Colgate and Indian Dental Association (IDA) has come to the city to educate and promote the need for oral hygiene among school going children as well as the public.

The ‘Keep India Smiling’ campaign by Colgate and Indian Dental Association (IDA) has come to the city to educate and promote the need for oral hygiene among school going children as well as the public. The campaign, which is being held in cities across the country reached Vijayawada on October 31st. The Vijayawada members of the IDA are going to take out medical camps at schools and organsiations on the occasion.

Speaking to the newsmen about the campaign, Dr K Ajay Benarji, honorary general secretary of the IDA, Vijayawada said that they have collaborated with the Colgate to spread dental health awareness to a wider range. There will be free check up camps where the children of schools would be examined and prescribed necessary care, if at all. The treatment will be carried out for them without charge, he added.

Principal of the Government Dental College, Vijayawada Dr T Murali Krishna said that they have already identified 7 points in the city where 1300 students will be screened along with a minimum of 600 public per day. The schools in the city would be visited by teams of House Surgeons to organize the camps. The main ideology behind the campaign is to promote hygiene of teeth among children since their childhood, said he.

The ambassador for the campaign, actress Adah Sharma shared, ‘’I was always taught to maintain oral hygiene because smile is what takes you to places. Nobody wants to talk to a person who is moody. Smile is an important curve for everybody and it is possible only with maintaining hygiene since childhood. I am glad to be part of this educative campaign which I strongly support personally too’’, she said. Keep India Smiling campaign van is all set to leave for Vishakhapatnam on Wednesday, said the organizers.
