Hundreds of books from various genres of English and Telugu languages were put for display and sale at Visalandhra Book House on Eluru Road in the city. The organsiation has announced a 10 to 20 per cent discount on the books on the occasion of 48th National Book Week Celebrations. The book expo was formally inaugurated by Professor N Anjaiah from Acharya Nagarjuan University on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Anjaiah opined that book exhibition is another good attempt towards inculcating reading as a habit among young and adults. Nothing could compare to book reading as a hobby, which enhances the reader’s knowledge and widen his horizons. He felt that educational institutions and parents should engage children to read books for nurturing their lives.

The showroom manager M V Narayana said that they have works of pre-independence and modern day writer’s literature, lifestyle, hobbies, biographies, auto-biographies, history, educational, story books, novels and more among others at their store. A discount of 10 per cent would be given on books published by other than Visalandhra publishers’ and a 20 per cent discount on our own publications, said he.

Collections of eminent writers like Sri Sri, Gurajada Apparao, Kandukuri Veeresalingam, Jandhyala Bapaiah Sastry, Gurram Joshua, Adivi Bapi Raju, Chilakamarthi Lakshmi Narasimham, Ravuri Bhradwaja and Buchi Babu were much in demand and in stock, added Narayana. Visalandhra Vignana Samithi deputy general manager G Koteswara Rao, general manager P Harnath Reddy, Visalandhra Publishing House director T Manohar Naidu, other staff were present during the programme.
