The three day cultural extravaganza, Cultural Festival 2015, organized by the Fine arts school, Kaladarshini began here on wednesday. This fest for school students is the 19thconsecutive event from the organisation, which was inaugurated formally by Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha, DSP of Rajuhmundry Raja Rao, and High Court Advocate GVNR Vara Pasad among others.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Gadde Anuradha insisted on the need for inculcating interest towards cultural art forms among the students from a tender age. She appreciated the spirits of Kaladarshini for coming up with activities that would encourage the extracurricular activities and to bring out their talent.

During the first half of the day, competition like group singing and drawing for the under aged categories were conducted. The evening session had students competing for prizes in classical dance, Bharatanatyam under solo category. About 300 students took part in group singing and drawing competitions put together and 35 students performed Bharatanatyam. Students from nearly 60 schools in the city have taken part on the first day.

On Thursday, competitions in Instruments, light singing, group folk dance and classical solo will be held. Andhra Loyola College’s Correspondent Fr S Raju, vice principal of the PG College Fr A Rex Angelo, director of the Kaladarshini Fr D Ravi Sekhar and others were present during the programme.
