Free Diabetic checkups were held for free of cost to the patients on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.

Speaking about the topic, College’s director Chadalavada Nageswara Rao elaborated on how people with diabetes should follow a strict regimen that includes lots of physical activity and stringent diet control. While citing that diabetes can be controlled, he warned the patients who are at high risk. Diabetes is a root to other disorders in the body and can prove to be fatal for one, he said.

The seminar also had lectures encouraging people especially diabetics to take to outdoor activities and practice Yoga. A separate session was held for educating the patients on the benefits of Yoga among middle aged and senior citizens.

Meanwhile at the free medical camp, a team of 25 staff from the hospital and medical college, comprising of doctors, technical staff, paramedical support and professors have organised BMI, Fat, Diabetes, Hypertension checkups for about 350 people. ECHO, ECG tests were conducted for free and for required patients, 2D ECHO test was also performed.

Principal of the College Dr Murthy, General Medicine head of the department Dr Eshwar, patient welfare department public representative officer G Ranjith, dietitians and other staff were present during the programme.

Kurnool

Budding Hands Association, in collaboration with Sai Balaji Nursing Home, will organise a free medical camp at Tekke market yard in Nandyal (Kurnool) on Saturday to mark World Diabetes Day.

Dr M Harinath Reddy of Sai Balaji Nursing Home told newsmen here on Thursday that specialist doctors from Hyderabad and Kurnool would examine patients at the free medical camp to be held from 8 am to 2 pm.

People were made aware about precautions to be taken to keep diabetes at bay, at the medical camp, he said. Sivakumar Reddy of Budding Hands Association was also present at the news conference.
