AP government's Land Pooling scheme took an ugly turn on Sunday when police resorted to violence against the farmers who were not willing to give their lands in Pothepalli village of Machilipatnam mandal in Krishna district.
Thw villagers who demanded the cancellation of the land pooling notification issued by the Andhra Pradesh government gathered at the panchayat office and staged a protest. Police reached the Panchayat office and tried to disperse the farmers but the protest led to blows with many getting injured. Several of them were admitted to hospital while police dragged the famers and took them into custody.
The CPM condemning the high handedness of the police and demanded them to release the farmers immediately.
