Politics is both an art and a science. Politics is both an art and a science. It is an art since a politician has to possess the ability to see the undercurrents of both the aspirations and the frustrations of the people and give vent to them effectively and convincingly and carry conviction with the poor illiterate masses under any circumstances.

It is also a science involving timely and shrewd strategies and moves, diplomacies and even derring-do. Politics is a full-time job giving its practitioner no room for dilly-dallying and indiscretion. Alas! Pawan Kalyan, the heart-throb of millions and genuine humanist is not cut out for practical politics. His advocacy of social justice is appreciable but he lacks the mental make-up of a politician.

While he has come to the rescue of the poor farmers and even successfully stalled any forcible acquisition of land by AP government, his recent comments after his confabulations with the CM Chandrababu Naidu demonstrate that he lacks the drive and determination to plunge into active politics. Though rich at heart, he claims that he has no money (resources) to organise his fledgeling Jana Sena into a full-fledged political party.

Pawan Kalyan’s ambition is obviously not made of sterner stuff. Otherwise, he would not have said that he was neither an MLA nor had the stature to seek special category for the bifurcated AP. Such things as the inordinate delay in getting his political party registered, non-release of a clear-cut manifesto and the non-involvement of his party in the recent General Elections speak volumes of the absence of the traits of a politician in Pawan Kalyan to assert himself and strategise in the nick of time. Isn’t Pawan Kalyan ‘’a Hamlet ‘’in the field of AP politics – still undecided whether to ‘’ to be ‘’or not to be’’ in active politics?
