With Christmas being a month away, a cake mixing ceremony was held at Hotel Fortune Murali Park in the city on Monday. The traditional ceremony was held in the presence of the hotel general manager C Sujith, executive chef VRR Chand and other hotel staff.

Speaking on the occasion, Sujith said that “Usually cakes are baked just before Christmas day. It’s all about getting all family members, relatives, and friends together and to have a kind of bonding between all”. Ingredients in the mixing included walnuts, cashews, dates, apricots and pistachios.

Christmas carols set the mood for this event. During the festive time the cakes would be offered to guests and customers visiting the hotel, he said. Executive chef VRR Chand said that “We will let the mixture ferment for about 45 days and then prepare Christmas cakes.

We have been hosting this ceremony over the years, the mixture will be kept in an airtight container, which will be opened every two to three days for mixing. This mixture will be added to flour and beaten egg. Baking will begin fromDecember 22, he said.
