Arasavilli GiridharAmong the lots who have taken the most out of bifurcation of the State are the artist communities. Doors have been opened up for them and many are keen to exhibit their works for public display. But, what many still yearn for is better recognisation and more avenues. There are many who have even given representations to the government to set up more number of art galleries.

Vijayawada Art Society general secretary Arasavalli Giridhar speaking to The Hans India says, “There is need for awareness about this issue. With the city undergoing major developments, painters and artists feel the importance of having dedicated places for exhibiting our works.

Public should come forward and encourage them by buying some art pieces that add class to their living area. Paintings are always about interpretation and largely depict the moods, favorite colours and occasions that public relate to. Having a painting at homes is a status symbol and is appreciated widely among crème class of society.”

He continued that there are old artist groups who had occasionally organised shows at function halls and libraries but eventually gave up over a period of time. Navarang Art Academy, Sneha Art Academy, Creative Art Academy were a few of them. They restricted themselves to teach art to interested candidates in the city. Recently formed associations were Telugu World Artists Art Society (TWAAS), Amaravati Visual Art Society among others.

Paintings are not just decorative pieces but spread out the message in a most aesthetic way. They depict positivity, enhance peace of mind, promote positive approach and stand a symbol of lifestyle. They are coordinated with Color Psychology and famous artists work depends on this key principle.

The availability of Aakriti Art Gallery has come to the rescue of proper exposure starved artists from the city and neighboring places. Ever since its inception, the art gallery which is a part of Cultural Center of Vijayawada (CCV) has been busy organising various exhibitions of artists, sculptors and painters. An average of five such events is happen at the art gallery alone.

TWAAS secretary Kota Balayogi says, “Besides numerous representations, government has completely ignored our artists plea for government art galleries. When there is government art gallery in the city, there will be more emphasis on the art and people look out for paintings.”
