ZP chief punishes self for using official vehicle

Ongole: The Prakasam ZP Chairman, Edara Haribabu, punished himself for utilising the official vehicle for personal trips and said that he wanted to be a role model to all others in the ZP council.

Edara Haribabu who was elected as Chairman of the Zilla Parishat spent about two weeks in the office before the Collector suspended his election and appointed Nukasani Balaji as in-charge Chairman.

After nearly 18 months, the court announced that Hari Babu’s election was legally right. So, he presided over the previous ZP general body meeting held on October 15 as Chairman of the House.

Some members in the House complained to the Chairman that some officials and members were using the public vehicles for private events and were being paid the fuel bills for them also. Accepting the complaint,

Hari Babu said that he also did the mistake in his first tenure and attended a marriage in the official vehicle. For the mistake he had committed, the Chairman punished himself by standing 20 minutes in scorching sun.

During the ZP general body meeting held on Monday, the House approved the resolutions passed in the previous meeting. Thus the Chairman Hari Babu stood in the sun for 20 minutes in the lunch hour as punishment.
