Thousands descend upon Bhavani Island to celebrate Vana Mahotsavam

Families and friends are making the most of available play and fun equipment at the Island and water sports as a part of their visit. On Sunday alone, about 2300 visitors’ foot fall was registered.

The efforts of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) have paid off this Karthika Masam season as the Bhavani Islands and Punnami Ghat are thronged with visitors in large numbers. Families and friends are making the most of available play and fun equipment at the Island and water sports as a part of their visit. On Sunday alone, about 2300 visitors’ foot fall was registered.

The sprawling Island was abuzz with people celebrating the Vana Mahotsavam. Women were seen immersing in fun and frolic. They indulged in games that were organised by the authorities and were also treated to a selective menu and as well as cherished the cultural activities organised for them.

The custom made special packages to the visitors have become an advantage to the groups who ordered for food and packages including sports that come at their pocket. Packages are available for a price of Rs 210 (Regular thali meals) and Rs 310 (Basmati rice, ice cream, Panneer curry, green salad and etc).

The exclusive water sports at the Berm Park on river Krishna were a hit among the children and youngsters who tried speeding boats, jet skii, banana boat, bumper boat, pedal boats, zorbing, water ride, boat ride and others. Adding to it was the DJ who played latest tunes to which the gathering grooved.

Bhavani Island Manager K Sridhar speaking to The Hans India said, “We are running boats from three places- from Seethanagaram Lotus point, Durga Ghat and Punnami Ghat. Most of the services are being provided for the convenience of the people. The turnout was higher this time, when compared to the last few years.”
