Hyderabad: The issue of reservations for Kapus appears to be rocking the TDP boat. Prominent BC leader and LB Nagar TDP MLA R Krishnaiah has once again stepped up his ante against his own party opposing the move to include Kapus in the backward classes list.

He has even threatened to hold a meeting in Vijayawada if the party president N Chandrababu Naidu does not reconsider the issue.

Speaking to media on Tuesday, he said that move of AP government to give reservations for Kapus was for political gains and would be detrimental to the BCs in the State.

Krishnaiah demanded that Naidu reconsider his decision to appoint a commission to study on inclusion of Kapus in BCs. Krishnaiah, who had earlier warned that he would launch an all-out agitation along with BC Organisations against the move, has once again asked the TDP government not to take its proposed move forward.

Krishnaiah’s demand has assumed significance against the back drop of Andhra Pradesh Cabinet’s decision to appoint a retired high court judge as one man commission to study the issue of including Kapu community into BCs.

While the ruling TDP has been coming under severe pressure to deliver on its electoral promise of providing reservations to Kapus there has been opposition to the move even from leaders like Mudragadda Padmanabham in Andhra Pradesh.
