Visakhapatnam: Minister for Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that government will go ahead and sanction pensions to one lakh more beneficiaries, despite the deficit budget of Rs 16,000 cr.

He along with fellow Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Ch Ayyanna Patrudu took part in several developmental works in Pendurthy constituency, here on Wednesday.

The Finance Minister asserted that the State government is making serious efforts to get additional funds from the Centre apart from taking help of the multinational companies to push the welfare schemes.

“About 73 per cent of the State income was going towards the salaries of the employees and with the remaining funds, the development works and social welfare schemes were being taken up.

We are doing more than what we have promised to the people before the elections,” the Minister said citing the example of housing.

The State government has promised to sanction Rs 1 lakh for each house in the rural areas, instead sanctioned Rs 2.75 lakh and in the urban areas it has been enhanced to Rs 5 lakh.

The Finance Minister laid foundation to the Gurrampalem reservoir for which Rs 2.5 crore has been sanctioned by the NTPC Simhadri Thermal Project. The reservoir will benefit 1,650 farmers and supply drinking water to 250 households in the Pendurthy constituency.

Pendurthy MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy and Minister for Panchayat Raj Ch Ayyanna Patrudu thanked the NTPC Simhadri Project management for funding the reservoir and called upon the people to repair the agriculture ponds in every village under Neeru-Chettu programme. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, NTPC general manager AK Samantha and local MLAs were also present.
