The railways has cancelled several trains and diverted some due to incessant rains in Tamil Nadu and parts of Andhra Pradesh which resulted in overflowing of water above danger levels at railway bridges on Chennai-Gudur section.

Visakhapatnam: The railways has cancelled several trains and diverted some due to incessant rains in Tamil Nadu and parts of Andhra Pradesh which resulted in overflowing of water above danger levels at railway bridges on Chennai-Gudur section.

The trains that were cancelled include 22870 Chennai Central-Visakhapatnam Express (weekly) which was to leave on December 1, Chennai Central-Howrah Mail (December 1), Chennai Central-Howrah Coromandal Express (December 2), Chennai Central- New Jalpaiguri (weekly) Express (December 2), Chennai Central - Howrah Mail (December 2),

Howrah-Chennai Mail (December 2), Howrah-Chennai Coramandal Express (December 3), Visakhapatnam-Sai Nagar Shirdi (December 3), Sai Nagar Shirdi- Visakhapatnam (December 4) and New Japaiguri-Chennai Central weekly express on December 4.

Trains which were diverted on Wednesday include Trivendrum-Guwahati Express which left on Wednesday from Chennai was diverted via Tiruttani, Renigunta, Gudur and Bhubaneswar. Puducherry Express arrived via Perambur-Katpadi-Villupuram. Puducherry-Bhubabeswar express is rescheduled to leave Puducherry at 6 pm on Thursday.

In view of cancellation / partial cancellation / diversion of several train services, the South Central Railway has set up Help Line numbers at various major stations to provide information to the rail passengers and minimise inconvenience.
