Five nabbed in Mayor murder case

Chittoor: Police have arrested five followers of Chintu, the main accused in the Mayor murder case, for illegal possession of weapons, according II Town police station Circle Inspector Mohana Rao.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, the CI said that Gunasekhar, Lakshmipathi, Vasu, Satish and Arthak, the residents of Chittoor city, were arrested and seized knives and dragons from them. “These five accused have reportedly helped Chintu and other accused for carrying out murder of K Anuradha by providing weapons which were procured illegally,” he said.

Rao said that investigation is going on to nab the other accused, if any, in the Mayor murder case. It may be stated here that Chintu, the main accused in the murder case, had surrendered before the designated court a couple of days ago. Later, he was shifted to the Kadapa Central Jail.

Meanwhile, the special teams formed to probe the Mayor Murder case have taken Venkatesh into custody at I Town police station here. It may be stated here that district police have successfully probed the case as all the 11 accused are in police custody.
