Residential school boys excel at sports meet

The boys team of Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Residential School at Sundipenta, in Srisailam dam East, bagged five gold, five silver and a bronze medal in the Third and Fourth Zonal-level Games and Sport events on November 27 and 28 at Yerragondapalem in Praksam district.

Kurnool: The boys team of Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Residential School at Sundipenta, in Srisailam dam East, bagged five gold, five silver and a bronze medal in the Third and Fourth Zonal-level Games and Sport events on November 27 and 28 at Yerragondapalem in Praksam district. The team won three gold medals securing first in kabaddi, athletics (100m and 200m) and javelin throw (S Chandra Paul). The other gold medals were in 400m running and football. M Somasekhar who stood first won two medals.

M Chandra Naik grabbed the silver in 400m and 1,500m running, grabbing second place. S Sewag Naik (javelin) and Somasekhar (discus throw) were the other silver medal winners. Somasekhar also bagged bronze medal in 200m running. S Chandra Paul Durganna and Somasekhar were declared the joint individual championship winners. The teams of Lokya Naik and Ravindra Naik were declared the runners-up in volleyball and shuttle events respectively.

The team won the first prizes on the topic ‘Educational technology’ in the State-level Science Fair-2015 held on November 14 and 15 in Visakhapatnam. The winners were V Sridhar Naik and B Raj Kumar (seniors). On ‘Disaster management’ A Sai Kumar and I Mohan Naik (juniors) were declared the winners. Principal S M A Hafeez Quadri and teaching/non-teaching staff congratulated the team members on their performance.
