Eluru: A tenant farmer who committed suicide at Narasingapuram village of Chintalapudi mandal of West Godavari district three days ago breathed his last at Government Hospital here on Thursday.

According to police, the farmer, Thumu Rambabu (33), took four acres of land on lease from a farmer besides his half-an-acre and cultivated for four years. However, he did not get good yielding and lost huge amount on cultivation. During the last four years, he took loans worth Rs 5 lakh.

The police said on November 29, Rambabu went to his agriculture field and consumed pesticide in the field. He was admitted into Chintalapudi Government Area Hospital by other farmers. As his condition was deteriorated, the Chintalapudi Hospital doctors referred him to Eluru Government hospital. He breathed his last at the Hospital in Eluru on Thursday. Rambabu is survived by wife Bhagyalakshmi, sons Pavan Kumar, Gopi Krishna.
