Srikakulam: The TDP government is committed to public health in the State, said Minister for Labour K Atchannaidu. He inaugurated two generic medical shops at Ambedkar Junction and Arasavalli in Srikakulam town on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the government has set up these generic shops to provide medicines to the poor patients at a cheaper price.

The cost of the medicines would be 80 to 90 per cent cheaper than regular medical shops, he explained. Generic shops will be maintained by self-help group (SHG) women and the minister told the women to maintain these shops with dedication and to serve the poor patients. Minister explained new ration cards would be issued to the eligible poor from January 1, 2016. Zilla Parishad chairperson Ch Dhana Laxmi, MLA G Laxmidevi, drugs control department officials were present. Generic medical shops also opened at Amudalavalasa, Rajam, Palasa and Palakonda towns on Friday.
