Rajahmundry: Dr M Muthyala Naidu assumed charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of Adi Kavi Nannayya University (AKNU) here on Friday. He was born near Chodavaram in Visakhapatnam district and studied in the Andhra University. He rendered services in Sri Krishnadevaraya University for 31 years. He performed duties as the Dean of English and Foreign Languages University. He is also involved in social service activities.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Dr Mutyala Naidu said that he would make efforts to develop the university on all fronts with the support of students, teaching and non-teaching staff. Though the university is new, he would try to introduce courses in the university which are useful for students. Stressing on the need to encourage Telugu language, he made it clear that promoting Telugu would be one of his primary objectives.

He maintained that the university would be developed in a phased manner. He would put in efforts to get funds from the government. Registrar of the University E Dhanamjaya Rao, expressed hope that the university would reach new heights under the able guidance of Dr Naidu. He hailed the new Vice-Chancellor as a great social worker who is making efforts to eliminate poverty in his native village.
