It was finally decided at a high level meeting here on Friday to conduct Visakha and Araku Utsav simultaneously for three days from December 25 to propagate the Visakha brand image, traditions and culture to help attract more and more international tourists.

The meeting was chaired by Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who reviewed the arrangements to be made for the Utsav with the officials of all departments, including finalisation of main venue, selection of various platforms to conduct cultural events and formation of committees.

Later, he told reporters that Minister for Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, who was present at the last year’s utsav, had announced that the Visakha and Araku Utsav would be held as State functions every year and as part of it, this year, function would be conducted as State function. Stating that the RK Beach will be the main venue for the festival, while cultural events will be held at Vuda Park, Kailasa Giri and Jathara in Madhuravada. It was planned to organise unique and special events. And as part of it, a Mega Flower Show will be held at the Vuda Park, while replicas of all important temples of North Andhra and the State Capital Amaravati will be installed on the Beach Road which will become the main attraction of the utsav.

The department of tourism will also organise tours and visits offering special packages during the festival and the utsav office will be opened on December 10.

N Yuvaraj, VUDA Vice-Chairman Baburao Naidu, Additional Joint Collector DV Reddy, GVMC Additional Commissioner Murty, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, DRDA Project Director Satyasai Srinivas, representatives of Visakha Air Travelers’ Association and Visakhapatnam District Hoteliers’ Association were present.
