Vijayawada: The State government entered into an MoU with Suzlon and Axis companies for developing wind and solar power sectors with an estimated investment to the tune of Rs 33,000 crore. The government and officials of the companies signed MoUs in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Friday.

The State government is expecting an investment of Rs 28,000 crore on wind and solar power generation projects and Rs 5,000 crore on providing infrastructure for wind projects.

The Suzlon company came forward to extend cooperation for the proposed Energy University and Suzlong academy to be set up in Amaravati. The company officials proposed to set up plants in Anantapur and Nellore districts to produce wind turbine generators.

The proposed projects are estimated to provide employment opportunities to 8,000 people directly and 25,000 persons indirectly.

Suzlon Chairman Tulasi Tanti and Axis MD K Ravikumar Reddy exchanged the MoUs with Energy Secretary Ajay Jain, Vijayanand and Kamalakara Rao at CM camp office in Vijayawada.
