`310 crore input subsidy sought for Kurnool dist

Kurnool: An input subsidy of Rs 310 crore has been sought for drought-affected farmers of the district. District Collector Ch Vijaya Mohan submitted a report on crop loss in the district to the State government on Friday.

In his report, he stated that 15 commercial and food crops in 2.55 lakh hectares were damaged in 40 drought-hit mandals of the district affecting 3.48 lakh farmers. More than Rs 1,200 crore was invested by farmers of the drought-hit mandals to raise the crops.

The Collector urged the government to release funds to Kurnool, based on the report to pay input subsidy to the drought-affected farmers.
