Vijayawada: CPM leaders visited several villages of Amaravati capital region on Saturday to study the implementation of assurances given by the government during land pooling.

Several villagers complained that they were deprived of livelihood in the absence of cultivation and migration of farm workers increasing in the region. They complained that the government failed to pay pension of Rs 2,500 for the last three months.

Several villagers complained over shortage of fodder to cattle as the government banned cultivation in the region and they forced to give up cattle rearing which is an alternative employment in the region. CPM capital region committee convener Ch Babu Rao said that the State government should pay a pension of Rs 9,000 per month to each villager as they were deprived of livelihood.
