Eluru: An unidentified youth snatched five sovereigns gold chain from a 70-year-old woman near Saibaba Temple at Shankara Math road in Ramachandraraopet area of the city on Saturday.
According to police, Cholla Mangatayaru (70) of Pamuladibba near Subbammadevi High School is working as a sweeper in Sai Baba Temple at Shankar Math area. When she was engaged in her work outside the temple in the early hours, a youth diverted her attention. When she turned back, he sprayed chilli powder in her eyes and snatched her chain.
The local people tried to catch the youth, but in vein. The victim, Mangatayaru, complained the matter to the Two Town police. The cops registered a case.
