In what can be termed as timely help from the Railway, a woman with her two children aged between 1-3 years were stranded on Platform no. six at Vijayawada Railway Station with a ticket from Bengaluru to Howrah.

The twitter handle of the Ministry of Railways (@RailMinIndia) received a tweet from Uddhav (@uddhavmj) about the woman and that she needed help.

The Ministry of Railways retweeted the matter to @gmscrailway and @drmvijayawada at 7.33 am on Friday. Ved Prakash, Director, Information and Public Relations, Railway Board, New Delhi, contacted the Chief Public Relations Officer, South Central Railway, who, in turn, passed on the message to K Venugopala Rao, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR.

Upon getting in touch with the woman, she informed the authorities that she had to travel to Ludhiana but did not any money. The Railway staff booked a ticket on Train No. 16317 Kanyakumari-Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Himsagar Express from Vijayawada to Ludhiana and informed her relatives about it.

The Railway authorities’ quick response was highly appreciated and went viral on social media. Uddhav tweeted “That’s fantastic job. Feeling proud of Indian Railways”.
