Officials told to ensure regular supply from Tungabhadra Lower canal to Gajuladinne

Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijaymohan on Sunday directed the officials to ensure uninterrupted supply till December 15 of 200 cusecs from the Tungabhadra Lower Canal to the Gajuladinne Project . This will mean an increase from the present 175 cusecs.

He issued the orders after inspecting the Gajuladinne, Bandagattu scheme and Gajuladinne summer storage tank. When irrigation department superintending engineer Chandrasekhar Rao informed him that there was scope for storing 4.5 tmc in the Gajuladinne project, which now has 1.5 tmc, Vijaymohan wanted repairs to be carried out to increase the water release to 210 cusecs on a daily basis. After inspecting the Gajuladinne tanks , the Collector asked RWS SE Prasad to ensure pumping of water to suit the capacity. He questioned Adoni EE why so much time was being taken to repair motors used for releasing water to 18 villages. He wanted the work to be completed by December 10 after striving round- the- clock.

Vijaymohan expressed displeasure over the supply of unfiltered water to villages from the Bandagattu scheme, after inspecting the quality. He warned to blacklist the contractor if he fails to remove the weeds around the Bandagattu tank. He directed Prasad to stay for four days near the Bandagattu scheme for completing the work on a war-footing and submit reports to him. The Collector asked the SEs of RWS and irrigation departments to ensure filling of summer storage tanks from KC and Tungabhadra canals so that no drinking water shortage is experienced. As he would inspect the tanks next week, efforts should be made to fill them from now on.
