Tanuku: Lok Satta Party will take up State-wide agitation to decentralise the development in State, said party president D V V S Varma.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Varma said that the party will conduct a State-level convention on December 13 at Ongole and demanded the government to construct only administrative capital at Amaravati and decentralise development in all 13 districts. He urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu not to lay foundation for dissent among people of other regions by concentrating development in a single place.

“The proposed nine gems (sectors of development) of the TDP government will lead to dissent among other regions (of Andhra Pradesh) as concentration will be only at one place (Amaravati), as was done in case of Hyderabad and there is no rationale in repeating the same mistake,” he added.

Lok Satta national leader Katari Srinivasa Rao said that the administration in the State has come to a standstill and the government is nonchalant about farmer suicides. He alleged that the TDP leaders are exploiting sand reaches and minting money.

Lok Satta women leader Manorama warned that they will embark on a State-wide agitation if the government doesn’t shut down liquor shops on National, State Highways by December 31 as per Supreme Court directive.
