Eluru: Deputy Superintendent of Police K G V Saritha called upon Home Guards to serve the people with commitment and dedication. She took part as the chief guest in the Home Guards Formation Day celebrations at Police Parade Grounds here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the DSP said the Home Guards are discharging their duties to the satisfaction of the people and called upon them to rededicate themselves to serve the public. She assured the Home Guards that government will respond positively to their problems.

The DSP Saritha received the guard of honour and later recounted the history of Home Guards, which was formed during the British regime. She noted that as many as 5.90 lakh Home Guards are serving the public.

The DSP presented mementos to the Home Guards, Reserve Sub-Inspectors and Reserve Inspectors for their outstanding services. Later, she flagged off a rally of Home Guards. The Home Guards took out a rally from Police Parade Grounds to Fire Station Centre.
