The Vijayawada police filed a case against former MLA Malladi Vishnu in the illicit liquor deaths tragedy that caused 6 deaths on Monday. The police mentioned Malladi Vishnu as A9 in the FIR. There were allegations on the former MLA that the bar got the licence with the influence of Vishnu.

The police also booked cases against the owner of the Swarna Bar and several others cases under sections 304 and 328 of IPC in the hooch tragedy.

Meanwhile, the AP Government imposed a temporary ban on nine brands of liquor which include Royal Stag 26, Officer's Choice, DSP, AAB, Original Choice batch number 120, McDowel's whisky , brandy and Bagpiper.
