The exhibition presented by the Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana (CCAT) began at Jyothi Convention Center here on Friday. Sub-Collector G Sujana formally inaugurated the expo.

More than 35 stalls display products specially crafted by a number of artisans from across 10 States. A variety of handloom saris from West Bengal, mutka silk woven with organza, mutka silk with resham silk, bandini saris embellished with Banarasi silk zari, gadwal and uppada collections, cotton kurtis sourced from different regions form a part of the exhibition that will go on till Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, CCAT Vice-Chairman Meenakshi said that Crafts Council is a non-profit organization working with a goal to help build a prospective clientele for artisans and improve their standard of living. “As most artisans do not have access to showrooms, we try to provide an arena for them to exhibit their products and build their own customer base.

The advantage for the buyers is that they can procure assorted products directly from the manufacturers under one roof at a reasonable price,” she says. The expo will remain open from 10 am to 8 pm.
