Talent hunt on for future mathematicians

To inculcate interest towards the subject of Mathematics among students, National Board for Higher Mathematics has embarked on a series of programmes under the title ‘Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS)’ which will begin from December 14, at Kakaraparthi Bhavanarayana College (KBN) in the city.

Addressing the newsmen at College here on Friday, College’s Correspondent N Razath Kumar and president U Sambasiva Rao said that MTTS is a programme that would facilitate for the merit students to take to the research and development side of the subject.

A week long programme scheduled in the college will train the students in applied mathematics and simple techniques. An insight into the recent advancements will be discussed during the programme, they said.

As many as 50 merit based selected students from second and final year graduation courses from all over the States will take part in the event. Student entries from Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Orissa, Maharashtra, Karnataka and a few more are received.

The candidates participating in the programme shall be provided with free accommodation and food at KBN College, they added. Principal of the College P Krishnamurthy, vice principl V Narayana Rao, head of the department of Mathematics M Venkateswara Rao, senior faculty were present during the meet.
