A labourer from Andhra Pradesh abandoned his six-day-old baby girl under a bus on Jawaharlal Nehru Road on November 5. According to reports, Jagannath Sahu wanted a son but his wife delivered a baby girl.
He abandoned the baby girl near a garbage pile and the baby came under a stopped bus. A bus driver, who was cleaning his bus, heard the screaming sounds of the baby and he found the baby surrounded by many insects.
He immediately alerted a garbage collector who later informed the police. The police admitted the baby in a hospital and have formed two teams to trace the parents of the girl. After questioning various people in the slum, police learnt about Jagannath Sahu and his wife and arrested them.
