Rajahmundry: People from all walks of life in the country including farmers, women, students, ex-servicemen and workers are in turmoil due to policies initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CPI (M) National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said here on Saturday.

Addressing a public meeting, after attending a plenary session, Yechury said that PM is implementing policies without keeping Parliament in the loop and alleged that the Centre has signed pacts with Singapore government to privatise four airports in the country without the knowledge of the Parliament.

Yechury observed that unemployment is increasing due to foreign investments in the country and productivity is dwindling and maintained that prices are skyrocketing in north India and there is increase of 29 per cent in farmers’ suicides in the country after Modi came to power. He blamed the Centre for giving authority to land acquisition by setting aside existing Land Acquisition Act, 2013 which was passed in the Parliament. He opined that PM is creating problems instead of solving them and faulted RSS for making announcement of building Ram temple whereas all parties have agreed to wait for Apex court verdict.

CPM national leader warns of public agitations to protect the country from tyranny of the BJP and said Left twins (CPI (M)and CPI) would obstruct Aswamedha Yagam taken up by Narendra Modi like lava and Kusa in the mythology. Blaming the government for not making allocations for education, health and employment for youth which comprise 70 per cent of population citing lack of funds, he questioned government on how it could give tax exemptions to the tune of Rs 5 lakh crore to foreign capitalists every year and said funds for education, health and employment for youth can be managed by collecting taxes properly.

He called on the people to support Left parties to tackle rising communalism in the country.

CPI (M) State secretary P Madhu alleged that TDP ruling in the State is a disaster and the government is bulldozing tribal villages on the name of Polavaram project.

He warned that the CPI(M) would fight against the government if it evicted tribals from villages at Polavaram project site and criticised the State

government for failing to keep its promises on PRC for NGOs and salaries for Anganwadi workers.

Admitting that joining hands with the Congress and TDP in the past has dented the image of the Left, he ruled out any such alliance in future.
