Narasaraopeta (Guntur): Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan urged people to introspect their contribution to society instead of asking what the society has done for them.
The Governor participated in the concluding day of the three-day centenary celebrations of Narasaraopeta civic body, on Sunday. He pointed out that the people of the town proved to the world the success can be achieved when people partner government in development.
Narasimhan called upon the authorities to ensure that all schools are provided with separate toilets for boys and girls apart from potable drinking water. Unless basic amenities are provided in government schools children cannot be motivated to go to school.
He called upon the parents and all stake holders to take the responsibility to send children to schools. He advised them against sending children for work. The governor asked the authorities to also strengthen primary health centers in every village and also work for a clean environment by planting trees.
He also appealed to every household in the rural areas to use the toilets constructed under Swachh Bharat scheme. The Governor praised speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao for his role in the development of the town. He urged others leaders to take cue from the speaker in developing towns.
Earlier, the Governor felicitated film actor and comedian Brahmanandam and noted ghajal singer Srinivas, Managing Director of Usha Kiran Movies, Sailaja Kiran and others. Assets worth Rs 51.21 crore involving bank linkages were disbursed on the occasion.
A rich feast of cultural programmes, which were organised to mark the conclusion of the three day fete, enthralled one and all.
