Tirupati: Various associations and groups working for the cause of Rayalaseema as well as leaders of various political parties from the Greater Rayalaseema region comprising six districts Chittoor, Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Prakasam and Nellore, are meeting here on Monday to discuss and chalk out a plan to fight against the discrimination of the region.

As many as two dozen outfits working for Rayalasema and leaders from various political parties, including the YSRCP, Congress, are likely to participate in the meeting aimed at bringing consensus among the groups and leaders espousing the cause of Rayalaseema to launch a united struggle to end the injustice meted out by the successive rulers to the region.

However, sources revealed that the meet is likely to witness a clash between the groups on some of the core issues like taking along the political parties, too, in the struggle on separate Rayalaseema demand.

Many associations keen on taking along the political leaders also in the fight, believing that it would strengthen the movement on the lines of Telangana JAC, while others are averse on joining hands with the political parties, fearing that it would lead to clash of interests, defeating the purpose.

This apart, some of the groups insist on separate Rayalaseema demand which many oppose it on the ground that it is not practical and feasible. The opponents of separate Rayalseema seek a United Forum that should act as a pressure group to see that the government ends its discrimination and get things done for the all-round development of the region.

It may be noted that Hyderabad-based Rayalaseema Abhivrudhi Samithi (RAS) leaders P Lakshmana Reddy, a retired Judge of AP High Court and A Hanumatha Reddy, a retired IPS officer, took the initiative of convening the meeting here in an effort to bring all those fighting for Rayalseema on a single platform for a unified fight for the betterment of Rayalaseema.
