Visakhapatnam: Terming late YSR and his family members synonymous with large-scale corruption and looting of minerals across the State, Tribal Welfare Minister R Kishore Babu categorically said that the bauxite mining in agency area would be done only with the consent of tribals.

He launched Araku Valley branded coffee and procurement of coffee seeds here on Sunday under the control of GCC. The Minister told reporters that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had given permission for bauxite mining in 2007 to favour his close confidant P Pratap Reddy of Penna Cements. Later, the YSR Government had planned to set up ANRAK company as a joint venture with Ral Al Khaima and Penna Group after mining the bauxite in Chintapalli and G K Veedhi mandals.

Kishore Babu said everybody knows that Pratap Reddy was the benami of YSR family and the YSR was behind former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy who had amassed huge wealth in the illegal mining of iron ore in Anantapur district. How Jaganmohan Reddy and his MLAs fight against bauxite mining when they themselves were behind the mining mafia, he questioned. Taking a dig at Paderu MLA Giddi Eswari for using un-parliamentary language against the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, Kishore Babu alleged that she was the most corrupt MLA and has been demanding monthlies ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 from the hostel wardens and some department officers in the agency. The government would initiate action against the MLA as per the law as she was provoking tribals against the government for her political gains, he alleged.
The Minister further said that the State government would take up bauxite mining only when the local people come forward for development and the Chief Minister never take a hasty step at the cost of tribals, he assured.
