A total of 194 cases have been cleared at the Pension Adalat meet of Vijayawada Railway Division held at the Railway Institute in the city on Tuesday. Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar participated as chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Ashok Kumar said that Pension Adalats were necessary since all the documentation needed to be corrected before retirement of the employee. An amount of Rs 4.12 lakh was paid to retired employees and 92 appliciations were registered in the programme. He wanted all the pensioners to enroll their Aadhaar card details with officials to avail their pension in time. About 25,000 pensioners were availing their benefits under the Vijayawada Division, he said. He lauded the initiative of the Pensioners Association for helping the retired employees in matters related to their welfare, he said.
Later, the DRM along with Senior Divisional Personnel Officer M Sreeramulu unveiled a book on the pensioner’s benefits and felicitated Abdul Hamid Saheb, a retried employee on the occasion. All India Railway Pensioners’ Association assistant general secretary Purnachandra Rao was also present.
