Kavalakuntla Venkata Ramana, native of Budvel in Kadapa, but residing in Akkayapalem of Vetapalem mandal in Prakasam district is a burglar on police records. His is known for house breaking in Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts. He served many terms in jail for proved crimes.
The CCS staff and Chirala rural police Sub-Inspector Paparao on Monday evening took him into custody on suspicion of involvement burglaries in Chimakurti and Vetapalem. With the information received during interrogation, the police recovered 21.5 sovereigns of gold from his place.
Karreddula Mariyamma was arrested by the Markapuram town police Circle-Inspector Battula Srinivasa Rao, based on a complaint by I Nagaraju, whose bag was stolen in a bus. The complainant was travelling from Ongole to Markapuram on December 7 with gold ornaments of weight around 30 sovereigns.
He complained that he doubt a woman passenger who sat near him. The Markapuram police arrested Mariyamma on Tuesday and recovered 27sovereigns of gold from her.
The Prakasam district Additional Superintendent of Police, B Rama Naik, congratulated the CCS police and DSP K Venkateswara Rao, CIs Ch Venkateswarlu, V Bhushanam, ASRK Reddy, SIs and constables on Tuesday at Ongole.
