Tirupati: Even as the call money racket rocking the State, four members of a family, unable to bear the mounting debts, committed suicide by plunging into a village tank in Yerrathivaripalem in Sadum mandal of Chittoor district on Thursday.
According to Sadum police, the four bodies retrieved from the tank were identified as K Sivakumar (36), his wife (30), son Naveenkumar (6) and daughter Kavya (4).
In a suicide note which was believed to be left by the family, along with their baggage on the tank, revealed that the family was forced to take the extreme step, unable to find a way to come out the mire of debts.
Sivakumar, a barber from Diguvanagulapalli in Iralamandal, who went to Yeraathivaripalem on a moped, first visited Ayyappa Swamy temple on a hillock at 3 pm. Later, they came down and went to Seethammacheruvu in the village and committed suicide, police said.
