Eluru: With the police cracking whip on call-money operatives in the district, a total of 40 cases have been registered against illegal money lending. A complaint has also been lodged against an YSRCP women’s wing leader.

The victims have filed a case against YSRCP State women’s wing general secretary Pillamgolla Srilakshmi, her father Pillangolla Ranga Rao, her husband Edpuganti Navaraj and another five persons in one town police station. Srilakshmi has been named as third accused in the case.
The victims, Kalagara SivaramaKrishna Prasad, his wife K Mrinalini, complained to police that the accused were threatening them. According to victims, they had borrowed money from Srilakshmi and hypothecated Rama Lodge near Panduranga Talkies and Kilaram Petrol Bunk near Vasantamahal.
Initially, they were told that interest was Rs 1.50 and it was later increased to Rs 6. Later, the victims were forced to register their properties in their names.
The victims alleged that the accused took 50 signatures on blank promissory notes and blank cheques.
They further alleged that Srilakshmi and family members had threatened to kidnap their daughter if they did not not pay Rs 2 crore. The victims further alleged that they were attacked by about 20 rowdies. Based on the complaint, the district SP Bhaskar Bhushan directed the police to file the case. I Town CI N Rajasekhar conducted raids on the houses of Srilakshmi, Pillamgolla Rangarao and others.
