Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijayamohan has submitted a report to the State government seeking declaration of all the 53 mandals in Kurnool district as drought-hit.

The government had already declared 40 mandals in the district as drought-hit for implementation of relief measures on a war-footing.

Later, the district administration sought inclusion of Mahanandi, Chagalamarri, Adoni, Gonegandla and Holagunda in the list of drought affected mandals.

No decision has been taken yet on the proposal for recognition of five more mandals as drought-hit.

The Collector sent another report to the government on Thursday underlining the need to recognise the remaining eight mandals as drought hit.

He stated that Jupadu Bungalow, Pamulapadu, Atmakur, Gospadu, Avuku, Kowthalam, Kosigi and Nandavaram mandals were also reeling under severe drought due to prolonged dry spell.

According to official sources here, the government is likely to declare the entire district drought hit responding to the Collector's fresh report.
