The Indian Road Congress (IRC) has decided to promote the excellence in highway design and construction and road transportation with cutting-edge, environment-friendly green technologies. The recently concluded 76th IRC annual session at Indore, Madhya Pradesh elaborately discussed the adverse impact of highway construction on human health and environment.

The Indian Road Congress (IRC) has decided to promote the excellence in highway design and construction and road transportation with cutting-edge, environment-friendly green technologies. The recently concluded 76th IRC annual session at Indore, Madhya Pradesh elaborately discussed the adverse impact of highway construction on human health and environment.

YR Subrahmanyam, Superintending Engineer, (R&B) Anantapur attended the meeting and participated in the discussion about the global initiatives of environment strategy under Environment Management Plan (EMP) for promotion of cleaner, less energy intensive and less polluting techniques. The IRC council as constituted committee to suggest a comprehensive environmental policy for promoting environment friendly design and construction policy, to use less energy intensive technologies. Subramanyam is the recipient of several prestigious awards like Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana, International Gold Star Millennium, Global Indian of the year 2014, Rajiv Gandhi Excellency, Best Citizen of India, Best Nodal Officer and Best Engineer from Government of Andhra Pradesh.
