The NSS wing of Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala organised an awareness session for the students on First Aid & CPR at its campus on Thursday. Dr Kodali Anitha, Dartmouth College, USA participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Anitha emphasised the need for CPR training, in addition to the basic first aid training. She explained that CPR is an emergency procedure which is performed to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and respiration in a person who has suffered a cardiac arrest.

She added that training in CPR would enable one to identify persons suffering from heart attack and certainly minimise fatality. The training session included both theory and live demonstration. College Principal Dr T Vijayalakshmi, NSS Program Officers K Sarala and T Naga Rani and other faculty members were also present.
