Tirupati: The CPI leaders and activists celebrated the 90th anniversary of the party with zeal at several places in the pilgrim town on Saturday.

Addressing the party activists after hoisting the red flag, party State secretariat member P Haranatha Reddy recalled that it was because of the CPI, land reforms were brought by the government, which saw the tillers of the lands becoming their proud owners. Similarly, the party was responsible for achieving the right to form the trade unions protecting the interests of workers and employees, he said.

He reaffirmed the party’s resolve to be in the vanguard of the struggle for protecting the rights of working class and the welfare of the poor. Party city secretary hoisted the party flag at MR Palle circle marking the occasion and addressed a meeting. The Communists are the only people, who have been fighting with commitment for the cause of the poor, he said. He further stated that the party was floated in December 26, 1925 and since then it has has been growing with the support of the people despite facing suppressions, insults and brutal attacks.
