Visakhapatnam: The physical torture of 12-year-old Geetha by her employer and wife of navy sailor, brought to the fore the rampant child labour in the city which hitherto went unreported for quite sometime.
Representatives of NGOs dealing with child labour and Childline activists during brief survey found that the child labour was increasing in the city. Recently young girls were brought from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Nepal by the naval personnel and the north Indians working in public sector undertakings and central government departments.
