Tirumala: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu accompanied by his family members offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara here on Sunday.

On their arrival, the Railway Minister was accorded a grand reception by the TTD chiarman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, TTD Trust Board Member G Bhanuprakash Reddy and temple priests and escorted him to the sanctum sanctorum.
Later, priests explained to Minister about the significance of presiding deity. After offering prayers, Suresh Prabhu reached Ranganayakula Mandapam where he was accorded Vedasirvachanam by temple priests.
TTD Chairman presented the Minister, Lord’s silk vastram, prasadams and laminated photo of Lord Venakteswara.
Meanwhile, the members of TTD Senior Officers’ Welfare Association (TTD SOWA) led by its general secretary T Ravi (PRO) met the Minister here on Sunday and submitted a representation. They sought representation to a senior officer of TTD in the Railway Board to serve the pilgrims better and also urged the Minister to develop Tirupati West Railway station to ease congestion in the main railway station Tirupati East.
The development of West Railway station to make it a halting point for the trains connecting Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu down south will be more convenient for the pilgrims from these States.
The association also wanted the Railway to develop Renigunta junction ( 10 km from Tirupati) and also Pakala Junction (40 km from Tirupati) to ensure smooth train traffic, keeping in view the steady increase of pilgrims to Tirupati and also providing adequate drinking water, toilets, lifts and escalators in Tirupati railway station.
