Kurnool: The first State convention of Rayalaseema Vidyavanthula Vedika will be held at the Press Club in Kadapa on Sunday.
In a statement here on Friday, the Vedika convener Arun and co-convener Bhaskar Reddy said Rayalaseema remained backward due to the raw deal meted out to the region by successive State governments in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
After bifurcation of the State, coastal Andhra was being given priority in development at the expense of Rayalaseema.
The convention would discuss the injustice done to the drought prone region and the course of action to be followed to better safeguard its interests.
The Vedika would function with an aim of achieving a separate Rayalaseema State in future, they said.
