Abusive call money lender held

Visakhapatnam: The city police led by Gajuwaka Circle Inspector M Appa Rao arrested private money lender Gogineni Sudhakar for his alleged involvement in a call money-cum-sex scandal under Sections 420, 384, 509, 506 of the IPC.

Giving details of the case, DCP (Zone-II) Dr G Ram Gopal Naik said that the modus operandi of the accused was to offer loans to needy persons at high rate of interest after obtaining promissory notes and blank cheques from them. Later, he was threatening the women debtors and wives of borrowers for default and seeking sexual favours from them.
The DCP said that Sudhakar, resident of Panthulugarimeda area under Gajuwaka limits and his son G S V A Rao, have been running money lending business and gave loan of Rs 15 lakh to 44-year-old K V S Prasad, resident of Sanathnagar under Gajuwaka area in the city by obtaining blank cheques, blank promissory notes and two blank cheques from Prasad’s wife K Adhilakshmi.
Later, Prasad transferred his land of around 387 sq yards, located at Meharnagar in Gajuwaka in the name of G S V A Rao following pressure from Sudhakar by executing a GPA on the condition that the GPA should be cancelled after repaying the amount.
After a few months, Prasad paid Rs 68.4 lakh which is four times of the amount obtained towards loan to Sudhakar and requested Sudhakar to return his documents. However, Sudhakar refused to return the documents and demanded Rs30 lakh more for final settlement.
When Prasad expressed his inability to repay the additional Rs 30 lakh, Sudhakar harassed and threatened him and also insulted Prasad’s wife with lewd remarks during his visits to the house.
Based on the complaint, Gajuwaka Zone police investigated the case and arrested Sudhakar and investigation is on to ascertain role of Sudhakar’s son in the case. The police carried out raid on Sudhakar’s house and seized number of blank cheques and promissory notes. The police are expecting more victims to come forward and lodge formal complaints.
